Lead Safety

This course describes the necessary measures and precautions that must be taken when working in an area where the potential for airborne lead exists.

Contents:

• OSHA’s Lead Standard and appendices
• The specific nature of the operations which could result in exposure to lead above the action level
• The purpose, proper selection, fitting, use, and limitations of respirators
• WVU Medical Monitoring Program overview
• Engineering controls
• Safe work practices
• Instructions to employees that chelating agents should not routinely be used to remove lead from their bodies and should not be used at all except under the direction of a licensed physician.

Target Audience:
This course is intended for any West Virginia University employee who will potentially be exposed to airborne lead.
